This is Disco Stew. He has Disco already tattooed in his ear so Chuck added the stew as a Simpson's reference and even does the voice.
This is Sweetie Pie. She will be the first to have baby bunnies around the end of May.
This is Sapphire.
Their houses are attached to our deck. It allows easy access for care, and protection by being so close to the house. Plus the cats and dogs like watching them through the porch rails. We have room for one more cage at the end, then 4 more added underneath. We'll add a slanted tray to collect the poop which will then go into compost. ( Coming soon- red worms! )
Chuck is also planning to build a mobile rabbit tractor this weekend so they can have some time to play and munch grass and still have protection from predators without us having to hang around constantly.
All 3 bunnies were shorn shortly before we got them so they are far from full coat. As you can see, Sweetie Pie has the most fur, but it's still only about 2 inches long, It can reach up to 7-8 inches! The goal is to keep them brushed and harvest the fiber by hand plucking and not shearing. More on that later!
In other news: 30 guinea fowl have been ordered for pest control. Veggies and herbs have been planted.
